Welcome to Diyas Decoratives – a journey that began in 2017 with the vision to revive, revisit, and reintroduce India’s rich and diverse *traditions in crafting*. At Diyas, we believe in creating beautiful, handcrafted products that are not only sustainable and timeless but also thoughtful and deeply rooted in our heritage. Our collection is designed to enhance your everyday living and enrich the moments of celebration, all while honouring the remarkable skills and stories of artisans from across the country.

 

Diyas Decoratives was founded by Bharathi M and Kannan R, inspired by close association with artisans and experience in the craft sector. The* passion for supporting traditional craftsmanship, combined with the desire to create a brand that promotes sustainable livelihoods, led to the establishment of Diyas. From its inception, the brand has been driven by a commitment to showcase India’s age-old crafts and ensure that these artisans continue to thrive in today’s world.

 

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the lives of many artisans, particularly in rural and tribal communities. In 2021, many male artisans had to shift to alternative jobs to support their families, which led us to rethink our approach. Recognizing the strength and resilience of women in these communities, we began working closely with the wives, sisters, and mothers of artisans, many of whom had been helping informally. This shift not only helped sustain the livelihoods of artisans but also empowered women in these communities, creating new avenues for financial independence.

 

Today, Diyas Decoratives supports the livelihoods of over 300 artisans across 20+ states in India. We work with more than 30 unique crafts, each with its own rich cultural significance. We are proud that nearly 65% of the artisans we collaborate with are women. Every product we offer is infused with passion, creativity, and a story that reflects the dedication of the hands that crafted it. We aim to bring products that are not just beautiful but also meaningful, each carrying the deep emotions and artistry of the artisan behind it.

 

At Diyas, we are committed to sustainability. We work closely with artisan communities to ensure that the materials used in our products are sourced locally from within the community or nearby villages. This not only supports small businesses and local producers but also reduces the carbon footprint of our products, making them environmentally friendly. By promoting a circular economy, we contribute to the long-term sustainability of both the environment and the artisans’ livelihoods.

 

While we take great pride in preserving traditional techniques, we also recognize the importance of evolving with the times. Our artisans are experts in their crafts, and we often collaborate with them to introduce fresh ideas, designs, and patterns that appeal to modern sensibilities. By blending the old with the new, we ensure that our products remain relevant in today’s urban market while staying true to their cultural roots.
